We all know that to succeed, we need to make the best of the time we have, but we have to understand one thing, and that is the fact that there would always be distractions. What you make out of your time and out of your life is very much dependent on how well we fend off distractions.

Knowing fully well how important it is to manage our time correctly, how do we fight distractions?
Stay off the internet
When it comes to time spent on the internet doing nothing but checking emails and browsing through pictures and video on social media, you can say that a lot of time is wasted. Pick a particular time of the day to do these things and when you want to work using the internet, make sure you only open the page you need, and you’ll be able to achieve all you want for that period.
Shut the door to your office or workspace
For you to make the most of your day, you need to shut out the distractions and if need be, put a “do not disturb sign” on the door to make sure that you make the best of your time working. If you are using a workspace and not an office, make sure you explain to the people around you that you do not want to be disturbed.
Explain to your children not disturb you except for emergencies
This might be somewhat a difficult task as it might be difficult to make children understand this, especially if they are little. No matter how difficult it is to control the kids, you can hire a babysitter to come in for the period which you would want to work. You could even bring in someone the kids know and have them do something, anything as far as they would not distract you.
Leave the house and go to a coffee shop or library
You can make the most of these locations as they are mostly quiet and easy to concentrate. You might need to lay off the snacks so you would not feel sleepy while working.
Figure out the task you are avoiding the most
The tasks we avoid the most are the ones we need to do right away. Think of it; we put off the most important tasks and do irrelevant ones. Put up your tasks according to relevance and make sure you do them immediately you begin running your tasks. Once you start to avoid a specific task, it is definite that your day would be very unproductive.
Do not pursue perfection, pursue completion
Often, the quest for perfection is the mind masking the body’s need to do things in the least stressful way. Start your tasks right away and perfect them as you move on.
Make sure your breakfast contains fiber and protein
The reason for this is that fiber tends to make you fuller while protein helps with the movement of the muscles so with you feeling full and fit to work, you would not feel hungry for a snack after 30 minutes. Eating correctly helps you concentrate and increases your productivity.
Keep plenty of water nearby while working
Hydration is perfect for mental strength and concentration. However, stay hydrated with water and not sugary drinks which sends your adrenaline up and then crashes you down an hour later.
Take short breaks every hour
Yes, I know you have a deadline and all, but work is better done when split into different sections. Walk around at your free time, then come back to work some more.
Have some white noise or music play in the background
With something playing on the background where you are, you are less likely to be bothered about outside interference, making it easy for you to concentrate on the work you are doing.
Bottom line
There are so many ways to prevent distractions; let’s say these are a few. The world we live in today is full of distractions, and if you are going to work from home, you need to stay focused. You are your boss, and a lot depends on you. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll be done with your task.
